24 Hour Goals

Last night I make a pack with myself, and posted on Instagram, Facebook, etc, that I would complete 10 goals within 24 hours that all pertain to my 2013 goals (more on that later). I'm running out of time (15 minutes to go) so I will make this short. Here are my goals, along with the picture that shows that I completed them.

1. Blog post - the one that you are reading :]

2. Completed scrap page

3. Handmade postcard

4. Scholarship List

5. Debt List

6. Donated Rice

7. "Before" Shots

8. Spanish books

9. Trip Ideas

10. Craft Ideas

Running out of time.. ahhh so pictures coming soon! I hope you all enjoyed my 24-hour goals. I actually slept in pretty late today and then didn't get to the library until 30 minutes before closing. I actually started working on these goals about 530ish. It was crazy trying to cram in all the completions (along with photo proofs) within a few hours. But I did it. And I'm proud of myself. Now, I realize that I did a crappy job on some of them but that's okay. All of today's goals were just step 1 toward 2013. So, here we go. Happy new year everyone!

July Challenge Update

I've haven't really worked the challenge since I re-started it, BUT I have completed some goals without even trying! Here they are:

014. Get a pedicure COMPLETED! 06/29/12
I got my first pedi with my bestie. And she actually treated me! Next time I should treat her so I can cross off  #15. We went to a place at Northgate Mall called Magic Nails. I would highly recommend to NOT go there to get your nails done. They do a rush job and not a good quality. The prices are cheap - but it goes hand in hand with the quality. I would rather spend a few extra bucks and go elsewhere.

042. Visit 3 new states [1/3]
In June, I went on a roadtrip to Vegas and then went on a family vacation to Texas. Technically I've been to both Nevada and Texas before (when I was a kid) so I won't count those as new states. But during my roadtrip I did drive through (and stop a couple times) in Idaho. So I will count that as a new state! I even mailed myself a postcard from there so it must count right? Which brings me to my next one..

057. Go on a roadtrip - at least 500 miles total COMPLETED! 06/08/12
I went on a LONG roadtrip to Vegas! About 2400 miles and 22 (yes, 22!) hours each way. I was definitely tired by the time I got back home. And I drove the whole way, by myself, and without stopping, except for gas. CRAZY idea, right? I have learned my lesson. For my next Vegas trip I will be sharing the driving with someone else and going to stay there longer to ensure enough rest for the way back.

060. Visit cousins from the Bell/Crum family COMPLETED! 06/15/12
I actually visited both of them. My cousin (Crum family) had a baby boy (her first!) and the Bell family came down to visit as well. I traveled with my aunt (the new great-grandma) and visited the families in Texas. The Bell family came from Tennessee so it was pretty nice to see both families since I haven't seen any of them since 2009!

So, that's it for now. I didn't really have much to update this time around (even though its been a few months!) but I promise more for next time. I might write some posts later on with more details and photos of my trips from June. For now, just enjoy these pictures that I've included.

I also have to note that these photos are taken with my Android. Please excuse the semi-poor quality of the photos. I'd say the quality is good as far as phones go, but in general, still not great.

New Beginning

It's the middle of June. And things are starting to change for me. I'm one step closer to FINALLY moving to Seattle. I applied for an apartment today. All that's left is for them to verify my rental history and income. I hope I get it! :]

As for my artistic self, I haven't really done much. I've been traveling a lot, whether to Seattle or to different states, and frankly, I'm exhausted. My room is always a mess. When I get home I either have to go straight to work or straight to sleep. I hardly have time anymore for "me" time. That really should change. Before I had SO MUCH time on my hands that I didn't know what to do with it. Now, I don't have any.

So, I'm going to try and make commitments to myself and to my blog. Here are things I want to try:
  • Write a blog post at least once a week
  • Actually complete goals from my 101 list
  • Live life with the "YOLO" motto
  • Gain more blog followers
  • Work on my artistic income
Sounds good for now. Hopefully I will see you next week! :]

Neglected Again

So, I neglected my blog. Again. Procrastination always seems to get the better of me. I really have been meaning to work on my blog, and my life. But I just haven't been motivated to jump-start things. Let's hope this ends today. Tomorrow I am restarting my Day Zero Project. Why tomorrow? Because my end date will be December 31st. The end of a year, the end of a project. Sounds good right? Now for a fresh start on this blog. Wanna know what this blog will be about? Not only will it be my diary of moving out and becoming an independent, self-supporting artist, but it will also be a place for a LOT of inspiration and useful articles. Here are some keywords I thought would be appropriate:

Menu-planning, Work-at-home, Free activities, Beauty Products, Organization, Inspiration, Photography, DIY,  Travel, Creativity, Couponing, Budgeting, Life, Careers, Relationships, Art, Color, and Decorate.

Welcome to The Creative Strip! My name is Leilanie Marie. This isn't my first blog, but this blog will be a fresh start for me. My other blogs have become neglected. When I first started a blog back in 2009, I was so crazy about blogs that I created too many. Then I decided to merge them all together in 2011 to make them easier to handle. Even then the blog was still neglected. So now, I decided to take a two-month mental break in my life. I will take the time to discover me, create different streams of income, and just enjoy life being the person that I want to be. Please follow me in my  journey along the way. I hope you enjoy the ride.

Leilanie Marie.
